The "Master Bedroom" has a Queen size bed and the "Spare Bedroom" has two full size beds. Both bedrooms offer smart TVs, ceiling fans, luggage racks, ample closet space, black-out curtains, dressers and lamps equipped with AC outlets and USB C+A ports. The upstairs bathroom has a tub/shower combo and the downstairs bathroom has a stand up shower. The kitchen is stocked with a complete set of pots & pans, knives, bakeware, blender, toaster and more. The dining table seats 8 and the bar overlooking the bayou seats 6, all together in an open living space with 2 futon sofas that offer additional sleeping space for 4. Founded in 1779 by Spaniards led by Francisco Bouligny on the banks of the Bayou Teche. You will enjoy the blend of French, Spanish, Native American, African American and Creole heritages. The center piece for downtown is the historic Shadows on the Teche, surrounded by many well maintained Victorian homes. Visit the Teche Museum & George Rodriguez Park. Park and walk Main Street as it follows the winding Bayou Teche. Stop in for breakfast at Victor's Cafe or lunch at Cane River Pie Bar. BAYOU TECHE NATIONAL PADDLE TRAIL (LOREAUVILLE TO JEANERETTE) This 135 miles trail, which is part of the National Park Service’s National Water Trails System, offers multiple access points from Port Barre to Calumet. The Iberia parish portion starts in Loreauville through New Iberia (9.5 miles) and ends in Jeanerette (11 miles) with five boat docks located along the way. New Iberia has a floating dock located adjacent to the Duperier Avenue bridge and comes complete with a parking area, sidewalk, and an informational kiosk that depicts a unique design displaying the geographic and cultural uniqueness of New Iberia was also placed in the new pocket park. Bayou Teche is a slow-moving waterway near the Atchafalaya Basin that is great for paddling. JEFFERSON ISLAND & RIP VAN WINKLE GARDENS (20 minutes away) Enjoy a guided tour of the Joseph Jefferson home built in 1870 located in the middle of the semi-tropical Rip Van Winkle gardens. Jefferson was an actor at the turn of the century who portrayed the story of Rip Van Winkle. This home was used for hunting and a refuge to paint. Stop in to view the film portraying the 1980 catastrophe when Lake Peigneur was punctured and drained into the salt mine below. Allow time to explore the beautiful grounds and enjoy refreshments at the Cafe on site. CYPREMORT POINT (30 minutes away) Take a peaceful drive along the swamp to Cypremort Point. The drive by car or by boat is approximately 30 minutes. Visit the beach area on the shores of Vermilion Bay within the state park. Drive to the end of the point to enjoy the view of the gateway to the Gulf of Mexico. Explore taking a deep sea fishing excursion for excellent salt water fishing or simply enjoy a hamburger at the Bay View. You will enjoy seeing the marsh areas, beautiful camps and lush vegetation.
