The Iberia parish portion starts in Loreauville through New Iberia (9.5 miles) and ends in Jeanerette (11 miles) with five boat docks located along the way. New Iberia has a floating dock located adjacent to the Duperier Avenue bridge and comes complete with a parking area, sidewalk, and an informational kiosk that depicts a unique design displaying the geographic and cultural uniqueness of New Iberia was also placed in the new pocket park. Jefferson was an actor at the turn of the century who portrayed the story of Rip Van Winkle. This home was used for hunting and a refuge to paint. Stop in to view the film portraying the 1980 catastrophe when Lake Peigneur was punctured and drained into the salt mine below. The drive by car or by boat is approximately 30 minutes. Visit the beach area on the shores of Vermilion Bay within the state park. Drive to the end of the point to enjoy the view of the gateway to the Gulf of Mexico.
