WWII Quonset Hut 4-Sunshine Hut-AK's Point of View
Looking for unique? This original World War II Quonset hut is on its original site. Newly remodeled inside and out with a complete facelift, it is comfortable and cute. Enjoy the charcoal barbecue on the back deck with views of Resurrection Bay and the surrounding mountains. The bedroom has a queen bed; the living room has two click-clack sofas that fold out into double beds. This charming lodging is located less than a block from the ocean and two blocks from the historic downtown. Our two WWII Quonset huts were used to house entertainers during WWII. Loraine Bacall stay in one of the huts. They were again used by the military after the 1964 earth quake. 2020 we remodeled and updated this hut. One new feature is the dishwasher that was just added. Hope to have new pictures soon. As my WWII friend said, "If they were this nice back then, I would still be living in one."-Bob Eads. The entire place is for the guest. There is a small animal shelter next door. Normally this is not a problem. But if there is ever a noise problem, turn on the fan or tv and the grey noise will cancel out any exterior noise. The City of Seward has maintenance land behind the Quonset. But the views of the bay and mountains far out weighs the cities lack of following rules they place of the residence of Seward. Our new home is on the south side of the Quonset. The Seward free shuttle bus is one short block away.
