Located in the heart of Grand Isle, this 1835 Lakehouse catches stunning Easterly Sun and Mountain views. Previously a Cafe, this farmhouse has been recently recently renovated from head to toe, including a very large kitchen. 10min walk to the lake! This old 3200 sq/ft farmhouse is a great space for entertaining guests. It features a large kitchen, as well as an Amish built farm table, which can extend to seat 14 people. Open the french doors and you can find more seating either on the deck or at the firepit. The house is set up similar to a duplex. The main section of the house is what we rent for our Airbnb guests. It features all the large common spaces - a big kitchen, dining room, living room, full bath, and outside deck (with views!), and on the second floor provides guests with 3 upstairs bedrooms, and another full bath. For further sleeping options there is a pull-out couch (memory foam mattress, sleeps 2) in the downstairs office. There is an attached mother-in law apartment, adjacent to the rented portion of the house, where we live. Because we are currently renovating a nearby property, we sometimes stay at the other property, so you might not see us at the Farmhouse at all! If you do, it will be just a quick hello and wave if we cross paths in the driveway, and otherwise we'll stay out of your hair, and let you enjoy your privacy! Generally everywhere with a couple exceptions (for example if we are home and in the adjacent mother-in-law suite) We have spent 10 years in the Champlain Islands and would love to plug guests into the many different pieces of island life and entertainment. Grand Isle is a town located in the Champlain Islands. At it's heart you will find yourself surrounded by farmland, with artisans and farm stands around every bend. Our house backs right up to a dairy farm, which you look across to see the lake and mountain views. In the foreground you will sometimes see the Holstein cows, who can prove to be entertaining and sometimes very smelly neighbors. From barn dances, to concerts, or an afternoon swim at the beach (a 10 min walk), there are always things to do in the Champlain Islands. The farm stand scavenger hunt is one of our favorites. Get your friends together, find a great recipe and spend the day biking around the islands collecting local goods for an evening feast on the deck. Located in the heart of Grand Isle, most necessities are within walking distance. Need to pick up some wine? The vineyard is a great bike ride, about 15 miles down the shoreline. Need something more? Burlington is about 30 minutes away, and Montreal,about 1hr 15min.
