ABOUT YOUR HOSTS Diane Cable, RN Diane is a surgical nurse and administrator who has not only worked in the U.S., but who has helped established surgery clinics in Haiti and West Africa, specifically in Sierra Leone and Niger. After the major earthquake in Haiti, she also was instrumental in starting an orphanage there. She currently is Director of the nonprofit Manhattan Medical Missions which sends surgical teams to not only Haiti, but Ethiopia, Tanzania, and other countries. Diane has the distinction of being the first white female born in the ancient city of Timbuktu, Mali, West Africa. Ted T. Cable, Ph.D. Prior to retiring, Ted was an award-winning professor of Park Management and Conservation at Kansas State University. He has traveled to all 50 states, more than 50 countries, and to every continent in search of birds and doing training workshops and speaking engagements. He has seen over 4,000 species of birds. Ted has written more than 250 articles and 15 books about travel, birds, and nature. Samples of some of his books are in “The Roost.” If you’d like to buy one of his books, he would be happy to sign it for you. Just let us know! This apartment is attached to the home. There are 2 shared walls and a door that is locked at all times that gives access to the main house. The bathroom is off of the bedroom and is designed without a door but still provides privacy. ( It was designed to accommodate wheelchair access. )
